Genesis Beginner’s Guide

StudioPress released a new guide today: Genesis Guide for Absolute Beginners. It’s nicely done and downloadable in PDF format. I know most of my clients don’t need to mess with the Genesis portion of their site’s too much (that’s my job), but it’s a handy guide nevertheless. It does include some nice info about managing SEO in Genesis, which is something many of you do on your own.

Genesis 1.7 Released Today

Hot on the heals of WordPress 3.2, the gang over at StudioPress has released Genesis 1.7. As with the new WordPress version, most of the changes in this release are related to the UI. I’ll be updating clients using Rialla’s Managed Hosting service within the next week or so after I’m done testing WP 3.2 and Genesis 1.7. If you have any questions, please let me know!

WordPress 3.2 “Gershwin” is Out

George Gershwin 1937WordPress 3.2 was released today. This was a fairly major update that introduced lots of changes (good ones, I think) to the Admin UI. Also, as a little side note, this version also drops support for IE 6. If you’re still using it, it’s time for an upgrade!

You can read the full patch notes in the WordPress Codex here. You can also view a nifty video on 3.2 in the WordPress blog.

Note: if you’re using Rialla’s Managed Hosting service, I’ll be updating your site to 3.2 automatically (after I’m done testing).

New McStain Neighborhoods Website

McStain HomepageI’ve been working with McStain since 2003 (when I was at JohnstonWells), so I was very excited for the opportunity to build their new website. McStain’s old site was HUGE and overly-complicated…so we really focused on making the new site clean and easy for visitors to use.

You can check out the portfolio page here or go directly to McStain.com.

The site uses WordPress software and is based on the excellent Genesis framework by StudioPress. It is hosted by Rialla.
